Mad Ram- Croydon

Mad Ram is a very vibrant café owned by two brothers who grew up in the café’s home suburb of Croydon. The staff are really friendly and the service is very efficient and professional. There are constantly people coming in and out for a coffee or brunch and they even have a dog friendly seating area out the front. The menu has an array of unique dishes that make you want to try everything!

Spaghetti on Toast

> Spaghetti on toast with bacon + fried egg <

The spaghetti on toast really popped on the menu so we had to get it. It is a very unique dish that is surprisingly quite tasty. The spaghetti is holey so it is not too heavy for a brunch meal. The tomato sauce tastes homemade and is really perfect. The saltiness of the bacon worked really nicely with the spaghetti as well as the fried egg, which made the dish more substantial and added an extra pop of flavour to the meal. I would 100% recommend this dish to anyone who wants to try something a little different for breakfast/lunch because the flavours are amazing and the dish is made really well.

Pina Colada Pancakes

> Pina colada pancakes with coconut ice cream, fresh berries + pineapple <

The pancakes were another stand out dish for us because who doesn’t like a good pina colada?! Of course it is not alcoholic, but the flavours sure did represent the drink quite accurately. If you’re a fan of coconut, then you have to try this dish because the ice cream is super sweet and there are shreds of coconut mixed throughout. The actual pancakes are quite fluffy so the ice cream just melts perfectly into the pancake. There is pineapple layered between the pancakes, providing the meal with a sweeter flavour, and also making it more substantial. These pancakes are really delicious and a must get when you visit!

Potato Hash

> Potato hash with bacon, mushrooms, kale + poached egg <

The potato hash and mushroom dish just hit the spot for us. The perfect combination of savoury elements mixed into one meal. I love mushrooms so this dish was perfect for me. The hash was quite thick, but it is used as a toast supplement so the lightness of the mushrooms and kale balanced the dish out. The poached egg soaked into the hash so it gave the dish extra flavour and added more to the meal. If you’re in the area and craving something savoury, you need to try this meal!
