Baked Eggs

> Picnic baked eggs cooked in secret spiced rich tomato sauce, chickpeas, grilled vegetables, chorizo served in hot pan with buttered toast <

Due to our amazing dining experience at Picnic Café, we decided we had to go back to try some new dishes, especially because they have launched a new menu! These baked eggs were like none you would have tasted before. There is such a homely feel when eating them because they put so much passion into making every dish. The tomato flavour is really strong but in a sweet way. The eggs are cooked perfectly and the yolk jells together with the tomato sauce perfectly! The chickpeas and grilled vegetables were a different addition to this traditional dish, which really enhanced the flavours and prevented any boredom because each bite was different from the last. The toast was not too crunchy which helped melt into the baked eggs nicely. Overall, this dish is perfect if you’re in the mood for a decent and filling meal that’s warm and packed with flavour!

Fritters

> Cauliflower, quinoa + red chilli fritters with beetroot relish, poached eggs, baby spinach, fetta cheese, Spanish onion + baby herb salad <

You guys know how obsessed I am with fritters, and I really enjoyed the fritters from the old menu, so I had to try their new combination. Do not be fooled by the ‘small portion size’ of this dish. The fritters are massive! They are very thick, creamy, a little chunky, and extremely filling. Beetroot relish was incredible and helped with breaking down the flavours. It also added a nice smooth texture to the dish and really spiced it up. The poached eggs make the dish more substantial and filling. Overall, I really enjoyed this dish and 100% recommend to any fritter or cauliflower fan!

Calamari Salad

> Warm calamari + chorizo salad with spiced crumbed calamari, grilled chorizo, sugar snap, baby radish, tomato + Spanish onions <

Now this dish, wow, I never really adventure to the brunch/lunch side of a menu, but I am not regretting my decision one bit! There are some incredible options to choose from on this side of the menu and I would definitely recommend having a look at that before you look to the left at the typical breakfast options. The calamari was cooked to perfection. It was not stringy at all and it was perfectly crispy. The chorizo was a little spicy, however, it gives the dish character. The salad around these amazing elements blend really nicely and finishes the dish off completely. The combination of this salad mixes very well and I really do urge you to give this or any of their other salads a try!
