Drippy Eggs AND Hotcakes AND Billy's Breakfast Board

> Dippy eggs with truffled pecorino soldiers, relish + bacon crumb AND Dark chocolate hotcake with raspberries, meringue crumbs, apple sorbet + raspberry infused almond milk AND Billy’s breakfast board with watermelon smoothie, house smoked salmon, sweet potato, crumpets, crème fraiche dill, poached egg + bircher museli <

Billy’s Central is located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, right next to the bridge link between Melbourne Central and Emporium. They have a pop up stand in the walk way and a side shop for a quieter and more relaxed environment. It is beautifully decorated with plants and light colours to mask the shopping mall experience. The staff are very friendly and are down for a chat! The service could have been a little faster, however, we were happy to enjoy the ambience.

Billy's Breakfast Board

> Billy’s breakfast board with watermelon smoothie, house smoked salmon, sweet potato, crumpets, crème fraiche dill, poached egg + bircher museli <

Usually breakfast boards are a hit and miss with portion size, however, this one was not short of a crumb. They were very generous with the amount of food they provided on this board. The smoothie was a cute touch and was very refreshing. The flavours were sweet and not too overpowering, which worked perfectly with the stronger flavours in the food section of the board. The salmon was cooked really well. It was not dry at all and fell apart as soon as it hit the palate. The crumpets were quite thick and filling. They had a nice flavour, however, they are quite rich with cabbage. The avocado pieces were great to blend the salmon and the fritters together. The yolk oozing over the top was really nice as it made the dish more substantial as well as it added more flavour to help everything blend together. The bircher was such a healthy and well presented addition to this meal. It had a really thick texture and all the flavours blended really nicely. One slight improvement I would suggest is adding a little bit more yogurt to add moisture, however, I think the fruit assisted with this and lightened the dish. Overall, this dish was really filling and well assembled. It is perfect if you’re really hungry and want to feast.

Dark Chocolate Hotcake

> Dark chocolate hotcake with raspberries, meringue crumbs, apple sorbet + raspberry infused almond milk <

The hotcakes were incredible. From the presentation, to the flavour, everything about them was above standards. The hotcake was super dense and really moist. It was thick but melted in the mouth like a sponge cake. It was not too rich which was great because the chocolate sauce and Easter eggs on top would have made it way too sweet if it were richer. The chocolate sauce was really smooth and soaked into the hotcake really nicely, adding more moisture and flavour. The berries were really refreshing and sweet. The flavours of the berries complemented the chocolate really well and balanced out the flavours. The apple sorbet was refreshing and a good element to break down all the chocolate elements. The portion size of the hotcake was massive and is definitely a dish to share between at least 2 to 4 people! Overall, I really enjoyed the hotcake as a sweeter dish and would recommend trying it to share if you are dining here!

Drippy Eggs

> Dippy eggs with truffled pecorino soldiers, relish + bacon crumb <

When the eggs came out my mouth dropped. The presentation exceeded expectations and the concept of the dish really intrigued me. The eggs were cooked to perfection as they were gooey and runny on the inside and firmer on the outside. This was perfect to enable you to use the delicious bread soldiers to soak up the yolk. The bread had melted cheese on top which made the flavours pop even more. The bacon was a really nice addition as it was crunchy and salty. This enhanced the overall flavour of the meal and really stood out for me. The relish added a nice sweet contrast to the meal. This enhanced the flavours and overall impression of the meal. Each element stood out for its own unique reason, however, the flavours blended nicely together to create a delicious and cohesive dish.
