A beautiful and large café in the heart of Glenferrie Road Hawthorn. Le Clec is a perfect place for any occasion. You can sit and have a coffee in the front, a business meeting in the middle, and a function out the back, all which can even be done at the same time! The staff are super friendly and very welcoming, they can even stay professional when under pressure. The menu is quite unique, whilst still showcasing some classic café dishes.
The seasonal avocado was a dish to remember. The avocado was nice and chunky. The portion size was quite large and extremely filling. The tomatoes were a great addition as they added a burst of sweetness to the dish. This dish was well executed and a great take on the famous smashed avo dish that everyone loves and enjoys.
The toasted brioche, OMG, like I was in heaven as soon as I took that first bite I already knew I was in love. The brioche was quite fluffy and really sweet. The yuzu curd added a nice sour element to the meal, which left a lasting taste on the tongue. The meringue was a nice fluffy addition that enhanced the texture of the brioche. The whipped chocolate ganache was quite thick but it helped make the dish more substantial and added another sweet element to the meal.
The acai bowl was an interesting one. At first I wasn’t a massive fan of the consistency because I was not used to an acai bowl being that thick, but it really grew on me and I did enjoy the meal. The actual acai wasn’t too sweet because of the spinach mixed into it, but I did enjoy the contrast in flavours between the fruit on top and the smoothie. It was a bit dry but I guess that is just part of the consistency.
Overall, we really enjoyed our dining experience here as there were no issues and the service was quite smooth and consistent.
