As soon as you walk through the doors, straight off the busy street of Brighton road, you instantly feel like you’re in a happier place. With white walls and plants scattered around, this café feels like a retreat. As you walk through, there is a courtyard with a garden of fresh vegetables growing. Immediately, you can tell the food is fresh, healthy, and rejuvenating. The menu features a variety of healthy options, perfect for all kinds of cravings. The food is presented beautifully as there are so many colours and vegetables used. The staff are really friendly and make you feel welcomed and apart of their family.

The vegetable dish was a little small, but had a lot of flavour to it. The quinoa is not dry at all so this means it is not clumpy, which allows the flavour to be quite strong and delicious. The Happy gut bowl looked refreshing and energising, perfect to start a Sunday morning with. Packed with so many healthy and vibrant elements, this dish very delicious and full of flavour. Chilli scrambled eggs have become a more common dish at cafes, so we decided to compare these ones to ones we have previously tried. The eggs are very fluffy and the portion size is quite large. The beetroot waffles were something different that we hadn’t seen before, so we were very intrigued and wanted to give them a try. The texture is quite fluffy and the flavour is very savoury, with a little bit of a tang from the beetroot. This café is genuinely amazing as the overall atmosphere and quality of the food exceeds standards!

Harissa Vegetables

> Harissa vegetables quinoa with harissa roasted heirloom vegetables. Pumpkin puree, herb + macadamia quinoa, stressed with a lemon tahini <

The vegetable dish was a little small, but had a lot of flavour to it. The quinoa is not dry at all so this means it is not clumpy, which allows the flavour to be quite strong and delicious. The pumpkin puree is very sweet and gives the dish a different texture. The lemon tahini adds a contrasting flavour that is also quite strong, so the dish itself is not bland. The vegetables are healthy element, with subtle sweet flavours to allow for the other elements of the dish to stand out.

Happy Gut Bowl

> Happy gut bowl with brown rice, sautéed aisian greens, fermented vegetables, avocado + wakame furikake, dressed with a ginger sesame <

The Happy gut bowl looked refreshing and energising, perfect to start a Sunday morning with. Packed with so many healthy and vibrant elements, this dish very delicious and full of flavour. Vegetables are one of my favourite things to snack on, so when they’re mixed with rice and dressing, it makes for a perfect meal. I really felt great after eating this dish and would highly recommend trying it!

Chilli Scrambled Eggs

> Chilli scrambled eggs with roasted cauliflower toast, sautéed broccolini, samphire + black garlic <

Chilli scrambled eggs have become a more common dish at cafes, so we decided to compare these ones to ones we have previously tried. The eggs are very fluffy and the portion size is quite large. The cauliflower is a great substitute for toast as it makes the dish more filling without making you feel bloated or unhealthy. The flavour of the cauliflower is really nice and enhances the dish very well. The broccolini is another great addition to this ‘classic dish’ as it gives the dish more variety and extra body. The chilli isn’t too strong so it is quite easy to eat without your mouth burning. This dish is done very well and is one of the better chilli scrambled egg dishes in Melbourne.

Beetroot Waffles

> Beetroot waffles with crushed green peas, avocado, roasted tomatoes, dressed with cashew cream cheese + finger lime <

The beetroot waffles were something different that we hadn’t seen before, so we were very intrigued and wanted to give them a try. The texture is quite fluffy and the flavour is very savoury, with a little bit of a tang from the beetroot. The avocado is smashed really nicely and helps add moisture to the dish. It contrasts the flavours and enhances the overall taste. The roasted tomatoes complement the waffles really nicely and adds a sweeter flavour, which brings out the sweetness in the beetroot. The cashew cream cheese is nice and smooth, and helps to combine all the other elements to unify the dish. Overall, if you enjoy savoury meals, this is probably the best kind of dish variation that I have tried, so I would highly recommend giving it a try even if you are not a beetroot fan!
